Sodium borate is a natural salt frequently sold as a laundry booster. Its mild alkalinity neutralizes acids and helps boost the cleaning power of laundry and dishwashing detergents. Borax helps loosen soils and stains, and it works well as a deodorizer. In addition, a solution of borax and water is a good, non-toxic mildew and mold remover on hard surfaces.
