Tom Kraeutler is co-host of the nationally syndicated “The Money Pit Home Improvement Radio Show” and a hands-on home improvement broadcast journalist. He amassed over 20 years experience as a professional home inspector, learning how houses are put together, and how they fall apart. Since 1994, he has offered candid advice, money-saving tips and hands-on how-to’s to millions of Americans through his regular appearances on TV and radio, online, and in major print media.
“The Money Pit Home Improvement Radio Show” is broadcast to over 180 stations each weekend, with an audience of more than 3 million listeners a week. His home improvement tips are also broadcast across 350 radio stations weekdays during morning drive time. His continuing efforts to educate homeowners have earned him many honors. Behind his media persona, Tom has more than two decades of experience as a professional home inspector, former building contractor and industrial arts educator. He was selected by New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman to chair the state's first regulatory authority for the licensing of professional home inspectors which he chaired for several years. He is also among a select group of professionals accepted by the New Jersey Superior Court as an “expert witness” in construction and home inspection. He remains a member in good standing of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI).
Tom holds a BS in Industrial Arts Technology Education from Trenton State College and completed an international studies program in architecture at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. He is also an accomplished craftsman, specializing in woodworking and metalworking.
