John Garfinkel
Headquartered in Lincolnwood, IL, ISSA is the largest trade association for the cleaning industry worldwide. In addition to his position as ISSA's executive director, a post he has held since 1990, Garfinkel currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Wholesaler Distributors—NAW—based in Washington, D.C., and is chairman of its Association Executive Council.
After serving three years as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, Garfinkel worked 25 years for Crown Zellerbach Corp., a major paper company headquartered in San Francisco, CA, where he was promoted to vice president/general manager of one of its top divisions. He concluded his sales career as vice president of sales of the towel and tissue business for James River, following its acquisition of Crown Zellerbach.
Garfinkel holds a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University in New York and a master’s degree in business from Long Island University, also in New York.
