The Dirt Devil Quick Power Cordless Stick Vac is Dirt Devil's entry-level inexpensive and lightweight cordless vacuum for general home use. Putting this little vacuum through its paces yielded generally favorable results. Here's the skinny:

Performance

The Quick Power Cordless Stick Vac earns its name with very adequate vacuuming power for such a light cordless vacuum. Our tests successfully made short work of food debris, hair, and general soil, proving that this little unit certainly has sufficient power where it counts.

Naturally, a larger corded vacuum can handle more serious dirt, but for quick everyday use, the Dirt Devil Quick Power is just that, quick and powerful.

Battery Life & Charging

As with any cordless appliance, battery life becomes a deal or no-deal consideration. We were pleasantly surprised at the Quick Vac's battery life, and managed to thoroughly vacuum 3 deep-pile carpeted rooms and one tile surface before it showed signs of battery drain.

The Dirt Devil doesn't feature a battery indicator, but the winding down sound of its motor is usually sufficient warning that it's time to recharge.

On the downside, recharging takes up to an entire day (the manufacturer recommends close to 24 hours to completely charge the unit). If you find yourself vacuuming large areas many times a day, this could be an issue. Once-per-day light vacuuming is well-suited to this use-and-recharge cycle, however.

Ease of Use

This vacuum's true claim to fame is its weight and absence of the traditional cord tether. In this it delivers. In addition, it features a swiveling head that makes navigating obstacles and corners a simple affair.

Its overall small size makes vacuuming underneath furniture a generally easy task, as well, and it features the now-expected standard ability to switch between carpet and no-carpet modes, which turns off the beater brush on hard flooring so that the hard floor is not damaged and dust and debris are not thrown about the room.

The Quick Vac includes an ample bagless cup for capturing debris. Emptying and cleaning this cup is simple and works well, without a great deal of fiddling that plagues some vacuums.

However, it's a minor point, but this unit does falter in the storage area. While it does feature a folding handle, presumably to make storage in shorter spaces possible, its height makes storing in typical cabinets unlikely. Additionally, the absence of any sort of mounting hardware makes hanging the vacuum in your closet a do-it-yourself project. Dirt Devil would be well-advised to consider including a mounting bracket that holds and charges the vacuum in future versions.

Overall, this is an excellent cordless vacuum for the money. Dirt Devil has found the happy middle ground between light and cordless convenience, and sufficient vacuuming power. Outside of lengthy charging times and the inability to easily store the unit without crafting your own mounting area, this is a great buy for anyone looking for an easy-to-use vacuum for light everyday use.
