Garbage can

The best time to clean garbage cans is just after trash collection and before it starts filling up again.

Haul the can out to the driveway, empty out any loose debris and hose it down well with the garden nozzle. Spray on a generous amount of disinfectant and detergent, then let the cleaners work for several minutes. Scrub the inside of the can with a long-handled brush, and then do the same on the outside. Rinse the can well, turn it upside down, and let it drain for several minutes. Turn the can upright and allow it to dry before returning it to service.

One more hint: Dry damp, clean cans in the sun for a few hours to completely neutralize any remaining odor.
