Wet (soak) mopping

When there is a heavy buildup of dried soil adhering to a floor surface, scrubbing with a dampened mop head takes too much time and energy and exposes the mop head to unnecessary wear. Instead, use the mop head to apply a heavy detergent solution directly from the bucket to the floor. Agitate the solution on the surface with the mop head to allow it to soak into the buildup. After a few minutes, pick up as much dirty solution as the mop will hold and launder it in the bucket. Press it out well and do another pickup.

Caution: Never wet mop a "site-finished" hardwood floor with water or cleaning solution. Moisture may damage the sealer and permanently discolor the wood. Laminate floors may be damp mopped, but not wet mopped. It's OK to dry mop all of these surfaces with microfiber pads.
