Janitorial goods supplier

You can find an array of all-purpose cleaners at supermarkets and discounters, although the selection of cleaning tools is typically limited. Big-box home centers may carry even more cleaners and tools. But if you're really serious about cleaning, janitorial supply stores sell what the pros use.

According to Don Aslett, author of "The Cleaning Encyclopedia: Your A to Z Illustrated Guide to Cleaning Like the Pros!", these stores frequently have more effective products that are likely to be cheaper to use than brand names found in the better-known retail stores. You'll likely encounter giant-sized packaging, such as 5-gallon (18.9 l) buckets, Aslett says, because the janitorial supply store is geared toward those who clean commercial buildings. Even so, most chemicals will be available in quart and gallon (945 ml and 3.8 l) containers, so you don't need to buy a lifetime supply. Janitorial supply stores carry many of the cleaning tools mentioned on HousekeepingChannel.com.

If you live in a metropolitan area, chances are you have one or more of these shops nearby. Look in the Yellow Pages under listings such as "Janitorial Equipment and Supplies."
