Winterize Your Home

I love this time of year because the temperatures are just right for working outdoors. And it’s a good thing too, because fall is the best time of year to prepare our homes for the onslaught of winter’s harsh winds, freezing cold air, and snowy, slushy precipitation.

Among other things, fall is a great time to clean gutters, stack firewood (away from the house), rake up and dispose of leaves, clean and cover or store patio furniture, get the furnace inspected, repair or replace storm windows, and consider having your home checked for radon. This is also the time of year experts suggest changing the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
