This week I want to point out two articles that show you how your organized closet can make you money. I’ve also included a couple money-making tips of my own.
Six Ways it Pays to Get Organized, by Donna Smallin, is not just about clothing storage, but about the many different ways it pays to stay organized.
Loose change from your pockets can cause unsightly piles on top of dressers or shelves, or worse, get lost. Think about where you stand when you change your clothes, and put a receptacle of some kind nearby. Consider a bank that counts the change while you drop it in. It may give you an incentive to put it where it belongs because you can hear the shoe-money adding up.
Laundry Day Tip: keep a small container near the washer to hold anything you might pull out of pockets. If you hate doing this chore, you might consider telling family members that whatever you find in their pockets is yours to keep. (Sometimes what you find is not much of a prize; however, the occasional twenty-dollar bill is a nice tip!)
