Organizing isn’t always about overhauling that room or digging everything out of a closet. Sometimes it is the simple, small steps that keep you organized.
Here are small steps to do this winter - or think of them as mini-projects - to help you be more organized
- Get it on your calendar – Curl up in your favorite chair with your calendar for the coming year. Go ahead and log in those special days, holidays and regular meetings. If you note special days a few days before the big day, you won’t be shopping in the belated card aisle!
- Stock up the pantry – Be prepared for winter weather by adding some extra canned goods and dry goods to your pantry. Soup mixes or soup ingredients, jarred pasta sauce and pasta plus oatmeal and hot chocolate can hold you over during bad weather. Organize your pantry so you don’t need to rush out or panic when a storm comes through.
- Make it easy to stay warm – Gather mittens, gloves, scarves and hats. Sort out what you don’t wear and donate them. Organize the rest in the closet into a hanging organizer or baskets so that it is easy to head out the door.
- Keep safe in the car– Organize a winter emergency kit for your car. Make sure that you have some water, granola bars, blanket, ice scraper, extra clothes, flashlight, sand and a show shovel.
- Get filing under control – Grab some file folders and create a new set for the new year. Remove old files from your file cabinet and place them into a storage box - or shed if they are really old. Begin filing new papers into the new year’s folder.
